Navigating DNA Testing
Confused by the array of DNA tests available? Uncertain about which one to choose and what the results mean? I’m here to help you understand and select the right DNA tests from the various options.
Interpreting Your DNA Results
Have you already received your DNA results but aren’t sure what to make of them? Whether you’re seeking a parent, grandparent, great-grandparent, or earlier ancestor or if there’s a gap in your family tree, DNA can provide valuable insights. I offer assistance in interpreting your results and figuring out your family connections.
Specialized Knowledge in DNA Testing
I specialise in autosomal DNA tests offered by companies like Ancestry and MyHeritage, as well as mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA), which traces your mother’s matrilineal lineage, and Y-DNA, which traces your father’s patrilineal lineage. While mtDNA and Y-DNA tests are mainly conducted by FamilyTreeDNA, haplogroup information can also be obtained through 23andMe or LivingDNA. My role is to guide you through the testing process and help you understand your genetic information.
DNA Discoveries Can Be Unexpected
Be mindful that DNA testing can sometimes reveal surprising information. It’s possible to uncover unexpected family secrets, such as a discrepancy in parentage or ancestry. These discoveries can be startling, but they can also lead to meaningful connections and a deeper understanding of your heritage.
